This thread needs to be made for obvious reasons. Luckily, Friday the 13th didn't bring me any bad luck. ![]() I just finished up the LMI dovetail jig. This is a huge upgrade over my last dovetail jig. Now I'm re-binding the cutaway and looking forward to using the new jig tomorrow. ![]() |

Not guitar related, but I'll likely cut a bunch of B&S sets from the nicer boards. Attachment: QS Oak.jpg Alex |

Nice, Joey! I'm deciding whether or not to order another jug of Cardinal from LMI. The guitar could use two more coats. Or it couldn't. How confident am I in leveling? Is it worth the shipping cost? |

I've just stood on a customers original 1888 Torres. Foot went clean through the soundboard. Some idiot had parked it on the floor. |

Cool, Mr. Morelli! I look forward to seeing how the nut fits, or perhaps it will be a zero-fret? I like the fretboard "wings". I cannot identify the fretboard material: it almost looks like Oak but it must be a Rosewood? Dan |

Set up a new drum sander, a Delta. The instructions said it was tuned at the factory. Yeah right! The four bolts that raise and lower the bed were so far outta whack it was ridiculous. Oh well, now I know how it actually works. Also set up a Steel City jointer. Or rather, didn't. They were out of stock at the tool store, so I got the floor model. Took it home, ran a back, and the joint was perfect first pass. Ummm, thanks...exactly what I was hoping for. Made up a bunch of Larrivee inspired joining fixtures, glued up a back with HHG, and for the very first time ever, took a set of wood from raw to ready in my own shop. The thicknessing took an hour. Now I know why they call the 36" by 108" a TimeSaver.... ![]() |

I made a sanding stick and got the top rims on my kit sanded two days ago. Went down to the basement to do the back today, picked up the stick, and noticed a little hump right at the end of it. Double checked my neck block with a straight edge, and noticed i have a corresponding dip where I sanded... ![]() ![]() |

Nice dots, Stuart! Helping 48 students finish their 48 guitars. Almost all want a good setup--nice they care, a bit tiring to teach! Here are about half of them: |

Spent the weekend putting in a chimney and making a barrel stove. Now I have heat in my shop! Also have this one going on, sort of a Gibson J-185 style. |

Great work everyone! Sadly, work responsibilities and seasonal socializing kept me from spending any time in the shop this weekend. I hope to get #5 strung up by Christmas. We'll see. |

No shop work but did perform in our annual Christmas concert; this year we did the "Nativity Symphony". It was a lot of work for me for several of the songs, I had to learn a bunch of off-the-wall jazz chords and then figure out how to string them together. I've been spending 2 hours or more a day on that for the last 4 weeks. Didn't know my old fingers could be coerced into some of those positions ![]() Played again in the evening and backed up middle and high school choirs in their performance, some real talent coming up there. Good news for me is that since I didn't have time to take much vacation this year I've got a bunch to use up before Dec 31 so I'm off for the rest of the year after this Wed. I'll be back in the shop for sure working on that old J45 Gibson restoration and my 13 fret cutaway 000. |
